Mark & Gladys Carbaugh Store

Mark and Gladys (Barnes) Carbaugh operated a General Store in the Village of South Mountain from 1931-1955.  The building that housed the Store from 1939 to 1955 is now a piece of living history.

In November 2007 the process got underway to remove the Store to the Museum site.  By May 2008 ground had been broken and thanks to the generosity of D.L. George & Sons on July 18, 2008 a crane and trailer moved the structure to the foundation behind the main Museum building.  Over the next almost 2 years the process of renovating and remodeling brought new life to the building.  On July 14, 2010 the Store was dedicated and opened to the public.
